SECTION 01
What Is Aged Garlic Extract?
Aged garlic extract is obtained through the process of aging fresh garlic under controlled conditions. This process extends over a period of time. This process alters the composition of the compound found in garlic.
Compared to raw garlic or basic garlic powder, properly aged extracts are often described as:
- more consistent in composition
- gentler on the stomach for many users
- typically odour-reduced
- more suitable for standardisation in premium products
This is why aged garlic extract is commonly used in many premium garlic supplements.
🔬 Scientific Background
The key compound produced through long-term ageing is S-allylcysteine (SAC). SAC is the most bioavailable organosulfur compound in aged garlic extract and is the primary compound linked to supporting vascular flexibility and healthy circulation in clinical research. Raw garlic and garlic powder do not contain meaningful levels of SAC — they contain allicin, which is unstable and largely destroyed before absorption.
